![]() ![]() The secitons in this manual were written with the goal that they can be read independently - there is no strong need to read everything in order. ![]() You may, for instance, be interested in generating actor images in a certain way, or in dealing with collisions. Feel free to jump right into the middle of this manual and start reading there. In that case, you already have a scenario, a world, and one or more actor classes. In fact, probably the most common way for people to start programming in Greenfoot is by modifying an existing scenario. This may not be the order in which you approach your own personal Greenfoot programming experience. ![]() It starts from the start: We first discuss how to create a new scenario, then how to create worlds and actors, and so on. For tutorials, videos and a quickstart guide for Greenfoot, see the 'Getting Started' section on This manual is an introduction to programming in Greenfoot. It supports development of graphical applications in the JavaTM Programming Language. 1 Introduction Creating a new scenario Using the API Creating a world Creating new actors Making things move Random behavious Dealing with images Detecting other objects (collisions) Keyboard input Mouse input Playing audio Controlling the scenario Using support classes Exporting a scenario Introduction Greenfoot is a software tool designed to let beginners get experience with object-oriented programming. The earliest known true snake fossils (members of the crown group Serpentes) come from the marine simoliophiids, the oldest of which is the Late Cretaceous ( Cenomanian age) Haasiophis terrasanctus from the West Bank, dated to between 112 and 94 million years old. Fossils readily identifiable as snakes (though often retaining hind limbs) first appear in the fossil record during the Cretaceous period. The fossil record of snakes is relatively poor because snake skeletons are typically small and fragile making fossilization uncommon. Note: the tree only indicates relationships, not evolutionary branching times. Evolution A phylogenetic overview of modern snakes. The other term, serpent, is from French, ultimately from Indo-European * serp- 'to creep', which also gave Ancient Greek ἕρπω ( hérpō) 'I crawl' and Sanskrit sarpá ‘snake’. The word ousted adder, as adder went on to narrow in meaning, though in Old English næddre was the general word for snake. Germanic Schnake 'ring snake', Swedish snok 'grass snake'), from Proto-Indo-European root * (s)nēg-o- 'to crawl to creep', which also gave sneak as well as Sanskrit nāgá 'snake'. The English word snake comes from Old English snaca, itself from Proto-Germanic * snak-an- ( cf. Nonvenomous snakes either swallow prey alive or kill by constriction. ![]() Some possess venom that is potent enough to cause painful injury or death to humans. Most species of snake are nonvenomous and those that have venom use it primarily to kill and subdue prey rather than for self-defense. The oldest preserved descriptions of snakes can be found in the Brooklyn Papyrus. The diversity of modern snakes appeared during the Paleocene epoch ( c. 66 to 56 Ma ago, after the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event). Snakes are thought to have evolved from either burrowing or aquatic lizards, perhaps during the Jurassic period, with the earliest known fossils dating to between 143 and 167 Ma ago. ![]() The fossil species Titanoboa cerrejonensis was 12.8 meters (42 ft) long. They range in size from the tiny, 10.4 cm-long (4.1 in) Barbados threadsnake to the reticulated python of 6.95 meters (22.8 ft) in length. Around thirty families are currently recognized, comprising about 520 genera and about 3,900 species. Additionally, sea snakes are widespread throughout the Indian and Pacific oceans. Living snakes are found on every continent except Antarctica, and on most smaller land masses exceptions include some large islands, such as Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, the Hawaiian archipelago, and the islands of New Zealand, as well as many small islands of the Atlantic and central Pacific oceans. These resemble snakes, but several common groups of legless lizards have eyelids and external ears, which snakes lack, although this rule is not universal (see Amphisbaenia, Dibamidae, and Pygopodidae). Lizards have independently evolved elongate bodies without limbs or with greatly reduced limbs at least twenty-five times via convergent evolution, leading to many lineages of legless lizards. Some species retain a pelvic girdle with a pair of vestigial claws on either side of the cloaca. To accommodate their narrow bodies, snakes' paired organs (such as kidneys) appear one in front of the other instead of side by side, and most have only one functional lung. Many species of snakes have skulls with several more joints than their lizard ancestors, enabling them to swallow prey much larger than their heads ( cranial kinesis). Like all other squamates, snakes are ectothermic, amniote vertebrates covered in overlapping scales. Snakes are elongated, limbless, carnivorous reptiles of the suborder Serpentes ( / s ɜːr ˈ p ɛ n t iː z/). Approximate world distribution of snakes, all species ![]() ![]()

"Black Sabbath" was ranked the second-best Black Sabbath song by Rock - Das Gesamtwerk der größten Rock-Acts im Check. The main riff of "Black Sabbath" is one of the most famous examples of harmonic progressions with the tritone G-C ♯: Inspired, guitarist Tony Iommi returned the next day with the famously dark tritone. The riff was created when bassist Geezer Butler began playing a fragment of "Mars" from Gustav Holst's The Planets suite. The song "Black Sabbath" was one of the earliest examples in heavy metal to make use of this interval, and since then, the genre has made extensive use of diabolus in musica. ![]() This particular interval, the tritone, is often known as the diabolus in musica, for it has musical qualities which are often used to suggest Satanic connotations in Western music. The riff is fairly simple, highlighting the dissonant and dark sound of the tritone against a stagnant harmonic rhythm. The main riff is a G5 power chord followed by an octave into a tritone away from the chord's root. It's one of the band's most frequently performed tracks, being featured on every single tour of their career.ĪllMusic's Steve Huey said the song is an example wherein Black Sabbath extracted the blue note from the standard pentatonic blues scale and developed a heavy metal riff. The song has an extra verse with additional vocals before the bridge. The song starts with the lyrics:Ī version of this song from Black Sabbath's first demo exists on the Ozzy Osbourne compilation album The Ozzman Cometh. Butler related this story to Osbourne, who then wrote the lyrics to the song based on Butler's experience. The figure vanished and Butler ran to the shelf where he had placed the book earlier, but the book was gone. When he woke up, he claims he saw a large black figure standing at the end of his bed, staring at him. ![]() Butler read the book and then placed it on a shelf beside his bed before going to sleep. Ozzy Osbourne gave Butler a black occult book, written in Latin and decorated with numerous pictures of Satan. Butler, obsessed with the occult at the time, painted his apartment matte black and placed several inverted crucifixes and pictures of Satan on the walls. History Īccording to the band, the song was inspired by an experience that Geezer Butler had in the days of Earth. In Japan and the Philippines, a 7-inch single on the Philips label was released with " Evil Woman, Don't Play Your Games with Me" on the A-side and "Black Sabbath" on the B-side. In 1970, the song appeared as an A-side on a four-track 12-inch single, with " The Wizard" also on the A-side and "Evil Woman" and "Sleeping Village" on the B-side, on the Philips Records label Vertigo. " Black Sabbath" is a song by the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, written in 1969 and released on their self-titled debut album. ![]() ![]()
![]() We were so inexperienced and scared but Mary made it all ok, peaceful, normal and beautiful. As Tricia’s partner, I was in a trance of helplessness and concern - but Mary guided Tricia into the shower and into different positions to get more comfortable. was already coming out - if it hadn’t been for Mary, I don’t know what we would have done. While the nursing staff was helpful, they were overloaded with other deliveries - I don’t even remember seeing the doctor until M. As the contractions grew more intense, Mary gently encouraged Tricia, saying she was beautiful, strong and powerful - that her body was doing everything it was supposed to do. She helped reassure both of us that everything Tricia was going through was normal. Her experience and calm were exactly what we needed. She’s a birth magician! - Kasia, mama of two If I had a do-over, I’d 1000% hire Mary again. I felt so comfortable, I was joking around right up until I started pushing! On top of all that, she made sure both my partner and toddler (who was there too) were well looked after. She was totally instrumental in making this happen! She kept the atmosphere in the room relaxed and joyful, offering massages, words of encouragement, playing beautiful music and being incredibly attentive to my every need. And indeed - my birth was the cheesily lovely one I had hoped for. She offered both pragmatic advice on the logistics, as well as emotional support when I needed it. Mary challenged our pessimism, and encouraged us to believe that we too could have a positive birth! She was always available if I had any questions or anxieties. We’d had a rubbish experience the first time round, and were hoping to avoid the same issues with our second baby - but were sceptical that birth could be anything but mildly traumatic. Was not disappointed when it arrived. It’s hard to put into words exactly how valuable Mary was to my partner and I not just during birth, but in all the months leading up to it. Having had to go through quite a time with cosmetic dental work I was happy to find your site in order to get a personal and appropriate card to send to my dental surgery. Daughter DĮxactly what it said on the tin!!! Good quality and great size Ainslie Sutcliffe Good colour printing and good card thickness. Thought I had left it too late but no, I was able to design a card for her and it arrived with time to spare. I wanted a card for my Mother's 101st Birthday.
